Founding of Kartong Diaspora

Kartong Diaspora (KD)’s formation idea came from a young man by the name of Kemo Jarjou who at the time (July 2020) saw the need of having a unified body of persons who are from Kartong Village but residing in the diaspora. He consulted with a few individuals among whom he believe would have support his idea. Among those are Ousman Jaiteh and Matthew Jarju. Through a series of braining storming, KD was officially formed on 20th August, 2020 and it is where it is today.

To build a strong, united, and globally connected Kartong community where the diaspora and residents work together to promote sustainable development, preserve our cultural heritage, support local businesses and tourism, and create a brighter future for generations to come

Mission
Kartong Diaspora’s mission is to connect Kartong residents living abroad with their home village by creating a trusted platform for information, community engagement, and cultural connection. We aim to showcase Kartong’s heritage, local businesses, tourism opportunities, community development, and achievements while keeping the diaspora informed and actively connected to the progress of our beloved village.
